CURRENT:
The Wood Dale Fire Protection District currently services an area of 5.6 square miles with a population of over 14,000. Our staff has one fire chief, twenty-seven full-time firefighters and two administrative secretaries.

The District consists of two fire stations, one on each side of the railroad tracks that divide the city.
Fire fighters work 24 hour shifts, starting at 7:00am. There are three shifts
Black,
Red, and
Gold
with eight fire fighters per shift. Of these 24 fire fighters, 20 are also
paramedics, capable of performing both fire and medical services. The other four
are trained Emergency Medical Technicians. We currently have two
Candidate Firefighters
working a Daytime schedule.
We respond to over 2000 emergency calls per year, both fire and medical.

The District also has a day shift with
Administrative Personnel that work eight hour days, five days a
week. The Fire Chief and two Assistant Chiefs, one in charge of operations and the
other in charge of the Fire Prevention Bureau, along with two secretaries.
In addition to fire and medical services, our District also has a Fire
Prevention Bureau, Fire Investigators, Hazardous Materials Specialist, Public
Education Officer and High Rise Rescue Specialist.
The District currently has a
fleet of two Advanced Life Support (paramedic)
ambulances, one fire truck, two fire engines, one tanker, one Hazardous
Materials trailer, and four autos.
